From where I stand, I have always seen the supply chain as a fragmented world, when I eventually step into a position where I am apart of the supply chain, the philosophy I will live by is that you can only do so much without the power of others by your side.

From every case study, speaker, project, I kept seeing that brands that are doing the best and have the best path forward are ones where their supplier relationships matter the most. From an Eileen Fisher talk, they mentioned genuinely getting to know the farmers they work with, not with the purpose of getting a deal, but to form that mutual relationship.

Strategies such as geographic diversification will work, until they don't. The brands or suppliers that have someone to fall back on are the ones who survive. That doesn't mean we cant have efficiency at the same time, You can optimize a supply chain as best you can until the unexpected. A supply chain that is built for speed and cost savings will have someone there to save you, they don't have any reason.

Looking forward, my philosophy of keeping relationships, at the forefront isen't just about wanting to make supply chains better, but also reconnecting the world. We have become so fragmented and hostile towards each other, that nothing can get done. If we want the world to go back to how it was, we need to be there for each other. That's why I believe relationships over everything is so important.
